Photography and Writing Volunteers

Artwork by Alex Maldonado

Are you an amateur photographer?

We’ve found we must be working so hard and having so much fun that we somehow forget to take pictures to share. Help us take pictures to tell our stories.

We use digital photographs of programs, volunteers, plants, animals and the woods in so many ways:

  • in our newsletter
  • on our website tcwoods.org
  • on flyers and in brochures
  • in displays and slide shows

What are YOU seeing or hearing at Thorn Creek Woods?
Do you have an essay, article, or poem that you would like to share with Friends?

Winter Woods

Unlike the summer forest,
That has secrets hidden in the green,
Where the ovenbird makes its home out of sight,

Unlike the summer forest,
That hides its branches, among the leaves,
That mark the way for nuthatch and squirrel,

Unlike the summer forest,
That obscures the view, with mystery,
And winding paths that disappear so quickly,

Unlike the summer forest,
The winter forest bares all,
And stands tall,
And open,
And waits.
